Homemade Flour Tortillas

Yes I am still alive. :) My poor neglected blog.
I just had to share this recipe I tried today. I made flour tortillas for the first time. If I had known how easy they were to make I would have tried a long time ago. I found this recipe on theurbanspork.com .

Flour Tortillas

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
5 T. Shortening or lard
3/4 t. Salt
3/4 cup very warm tap water

Mix the flour and shortening (or lard) together until completely incorporated. Make sure you mix it well or your tortillas won't cook right. Combine the water and salt and stir until salt dissolves. Combine flour mixture and water. Mix with a fork. The dough should be mostly all wet. A little flour left dry in the bowl is ok. Dump everything onto the counter and kneed until smooth. Divide the dough into 12 balls, set on a plate, and cover with plastic wrap. Let sit for 30min. This will make the dough easier to roll out.
Heat a pan on medium heat. Roll balls into 7in circles. Put in non-greased well heated pan. Cook until bubbles start to brown. Flip over and repeat. Place in a towel to keep warm and then make the rest the same way.

I made these and then used them for tacos. So good!!
