Cousins!

Just thought I would share a few cute pictures my sister and I took of our little girls tonight. They just so happened to have matching outfits that fit at the same time. We couldn't resist doing a short photo session.:)

Holding hands. So sweet.
Someone decided she had enough :)

Cupcake Themed Baby Shower

This past Saturday I had the privilege of hosting a baby shower for my sister and 5 week old niece. My mom and I  had a lot of  fun making cupcake decorations. A few months back I found some cute baby onesie cupcakes on pinterest and the cupcake theme was born.

Here are some pictures of the prep work.

We first made the onesie cupcakes.
We also made these smaller cupcakes with some baby wash clothes.

Next we used white Christmas lights and cupcake papers to make this cute decoration for the mantle. We added a few small cupcakes, one large one, some little birds I had, cupcake pictures I made, and the mantle was done.

(Somehow I didn't get any pictures with the cupcake pictures in them)
We placed the rest of the cupcakes in various places around the living room and dining room.
(Aren't the little tooth and curl holders cute!)
(I found the candle cupcakes at the dollar store.)
My mom made these cute diaper mint holders.
The last thing I made was the cupcakes for us to eat.

Here are a few more picture during the shower.

 My sister opening gifts.
Some of the guests and babies. We were able to fit nearly 20 people in my small living room!
My niece with one of her aunts.
The table all set up.

Baby's Galore!

Today was such a fun day! I got to host a baby shower for my older sister and her 5 week old baby. It was so fun to have her and a bunch of family and friends over. We had 4 babies and they were all born within 3 months. So fun! The theme of the shower was cupcakes and I can't wait to share pictures of it with you in my next post. Today is just to busy to get a long post written up. Be sure to come back and check out all the fun things my mom and I made! Happy Saturday!

Cupcake Invitation DIY

This weekend I will be hosting a baby shower for my sister. My sister just had a baby girl a month ago so her little girl and my daughter are very close in age! :) When I was thinking about the invitations I knew I wanted to make them myself. I usually always make my own cards for people. I decided it would be fun to make the invitations look like cupcakes. I got started by drawing a few templates and choosing the paper I wanted to use. The reason I drew the template was because I had to make 15 invitations and I wanted them all to look the same. They ended up being really easy to make so I thought I would share the idea. Hope this works for you!

 What you will need
1. Take the cupcake topper template and trace around it on the paper you want to be the cupcake topper and then cut it out.
2. Fold the brown piece of paper (cupcake bottom) so the folded piece is as wide as the large cupcake bottom template. Trace around the template and then cut it out. Make sure you do not cut the edge that has the fold in it.
3. Repeat step 2 with the white sheet of paper and the small cupcake bottom template. Glue the white paper inside the brown piece and this is where you will write your invitation once finished.
4. Cut the ribbon to fit on the front of the cupcake bottom.
5. Adhere the cupcake topper to the cupcake bottom.
6. Glue the ribbon and flower on the front. Write the invitation info inside and you are good to go.

Super Easy Bars

So I was eating some club crackers tonight and they made me think of some really yummy bars I had once a long time ago. I looked online to try and find a recipe that sounded like the bars I wanted. I couldn't find anything so I called my mom for the recipe but the one she had still wasn't quite what I was thinking of. I then resorted to making up my own recipe. That is the reason for the name of the bars. I don't know if this recipe already exists so I made up a name. If anyone has made these before and there is a real name for them please let me know! :)

My Super Easy Bars

Here is what you will need

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 stick of butter
1 tsp vanilla
48 Club crackers
1/2 bag mini chocolate chips

Lay out the club crackers on a well greased 12x16 cookie sheet. In a sauce pan melt the butter and then add the brown sugar. Bring to a boil and boil for a minute or two. Take off the heat and add vanilla. Pour mixture over the crackers and spread evenly. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and then place in the oven and bake for 8-10 min at 350°. Let cool and then enjoy!

Baby must have!

This swing is one of the things I bought before my daughter was born. When I bought it I thought I would use it but I did not realize just how handy it would be to have! I found mine at a swap meet for $15! I thought this was a good deal and figured it would be worth the money. Boy was I right! I found out later they sell for $62 at Walmart. The best part is that my daughter loves this swing and it has been a lifesaver when it comes to getting things done around the house! I love bargains! :)

My baby is growing up!

Tonight I put my sweet baby girl in her Bumbo seat. I wanted to see how she did and she loves it! I think she still needs to get a little bit stronger in her neck muscles but she can handle it for short periods of time now. I think she is really going to enjoy this new "toy".

Doesn't she look so cute;)
Oh and by the way this seat was another great find at $8!

Baby Wipes

One of my most recent things I have started doing is making my own baby wipes. At first I was very skeptical of whether or not I would like them but I wanted to at least give them a try. Now that I have tried them I am really liking them! I feel like when I use them I am actually cleaning Lydia's bum. The best part is that they are a major bargain! If you want to give them a try as well, here is the recipe I use.

1/2 roll paper towels
2 1/2 cups water
2 T baby wash
1 T baby oil

I have found that it works best to boil the water and then add the ingredients. I boil the water to prevent the wipes from getting stinky or moldy before I use them all up. I also make a little more or less liquid depending on how many paper towels I have prepared. I buy paper towels at Costco and split the pack with a friend. That way I do not have to spend as much money at one time. I like their paper towels because they are nice and thick and they are a good price. The rolls come with 80 paper towels on them. I take 1/2 the roll and cut them in half and then the other 1/2 of the roll I cut into 4 pieces. I have two sizes of containers so that is why I cut them into the two different sizes. I figured it out and it costs me about $1.08 to make 192 wipes and if I bought a pack at Target it would cost me $5.75. I think it's worth the effort. If you give them a try let me know what you think!
